Trap (not EDM trap) is pretty much a sellout / karaoke genre at this point, if you really look at it. It's like every or every other new rap "artist" perch themselves in trap, without even trying. You don't even have to live the lifestyle, all you really need is some loud ass 808s, autotune, and random hi hat patterns to trick the adolescence, on some misdirection type shit. ..then boom, XXL freshman class. /s I think OT Genisis even pointed something like this out with one of his song. And of course, No Words by Hopsin. Lmao, that song right there. Smh.

Then again, the over-glorification of the lifestyle, presently, probably ruined it. It's on a continued path into the ground. I'm guessing people are fed up with the lazy repetitiveness the genre contains, both on the production side and lyrically. You may think "well every genre has its repetitiveness", sure, however there's a line between repetitiveness and signature. But hey, the good cannot exist without the bad I guess.

And to touch on about trap not being hip hop: I always believed (t)rap and hip hop were separate genres. You can't really put someone like Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar, or J. Cole in the same category as Migos, Young Thug, or Future. Having trap and hip hop separate is the best way distinguish the obvious differences. Yeah, "rap" or "rapping" is the verb that all of these artists share, but make your list of what you consider to be hip hop and what you consider to be trap and tell me if they stack up to each other.

Pusha T is an INCREDIBLE rapper. The rapper for people who like to hear BARS instead of that Future-type music all the time. He also seems smart, which I expected due to his lyrics.
